The English text translation:

Chapter 13 (1) If I were to speak in the tongues of men and of the angels, but had not love—I have become a brass instrument or a clanging cymbal.

(2) And if I were to have prophecy and to have perceived all the mysteries and all knowledge, and if I were to have all faith so as to even shift mountains, but had not love—I am nothing.

(3) Even were I to donate all my goods, and if I had surrendered my body, that I might elevate myself, but had not love—I have gained nothing.

(4) Love endures. Love acts. It does not envy. Love does not brag, nor puff up,

(5) nor offend. It does not look after itself. It is not provoked, nor keeps count of the bad.

(6) It does not gloat over injustice, but congratulates sincerely.

(7) It overlooks all, trusts all, hopes all, sustains all.

(8) Love never ever fails.Still, if there are prophecies, they will be completed. If there are tongues, they will stop. If there is knowledge, it will be completed.

(9) For about a part do I know, and about a part do I prophesy;

(10) but when fullness comes, the partial is completed.

(11) We were once a child, speaking as a child, thinking as a child, reasoning as a child; but now I have become a man, and have completed that childhood.

(12) For just now we see with a mirror indirectly; but then it will be face to face. Just now I know in part; but then I will understand, even as I am also understood.

(13) So now this remains—trust, hope, love—these three things, but the greatest of these is love.

Additional Information:
Perlschrift was first used in the 9th century AD and became widely popular between 11th and 15th century AD.
During this time the main characteristics of this Greek script, that is still being used today, were established.

The script was called ‘perlschrift’ because the letters combined together in such a way that they resembled a pearl necklace.

Although this style of writing was usually imposed by the copying process (due to lack of time and space, writing tools, the lectern, influence by Latin script, etc…), it seemed to offer a special rhythm to each word, a rhythm which remarkable related to the meaning of the word. Writing this way, the scribe was able to save both time (some words were written without even picking up the pen) and space.

Additionally, there was great pressure to complete and deliver a manuscript as the number of texts to be transcribed was very high, paper was scarce and parchment was very expensive material.
