The Sun of Vergina is an ancient Greek symbol comprising of 16 rays. Variations of the symbol also include 12 rays as well as 8 rays.
The Sun of Vergina can be found on a wide array of artifacts unearthed throughout Greece from pottery to Spartan military shields, as well as adorning the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens.
The 16 rays represent each of the 12 Gods of Mount. Olympus plus each of the 4 elements: Earth, Ocean, Fire and Air.
